It is a celebration type of post this month, not necessarily for the monthly results, but for the fact that I’ve put SIX months into working on me. I am pretty positive I am ready to continue this journey for life. I know there will be bumps along the way, even this month I had chest infection during week 3 and needed a few extra days rest, but in the last 6 months I have learned it really doesn’t take all that much time to add exercise into your week, when you are doing shorter more effective work outs. I actually crave it on days I have designated as rest and was mentally saddened taking the time off to recover from my illness. I have to thank Royally Fit for helping me get my drive back over these last 6 months.
I have ended my relationship (rather obsession) with the scale. I only weigh myself now at the end of each month to see where I stand. I am contemplating making it a goal to not weigh myself for the next 6 months and see where I am after putting one year into myself. It is my belief that it will take me a year to get to where I want to be. I still plan on doing photos and posting monthly to keep myself accountable and show you that Royally Fit really works for motivation and results, but I might skip the numbers. I had a goal of 15 lbs lost when I first started this journey and I’ve yet to make that – but I couldn’t be happier. Last month I was up 1 lb and this month I am down 1.4 lbs. The inches are no longer changing that much either – but these numbers are not what are going to define my success.
This month my clothes again felt better. There is still work to do and I still have love handles on my hips and extra meat on my thighs, but my body is changing slowly month by month to be more muscular, toned and slimmer. I am becoming healthier each push up and jump squat and every minute I invest in planking. The strength and cardiovascular endurance gained from this is what I am using to grade my growth in fitness.
I also plan on continuing to eat just the way I am. I believe in everything in moderation. Yesterday my son and I indulged in delicious cinnamon buns as a treat and those types of things are never going to end. I figure part of this journey is being rewarded with treats for our hard work. Some like their wine and some like their take out. I will continue to make small changes over time to become healthier for sure, but I will not be defined my a menu plan, shakes or a diet. Life is worth living and eating is something I enjoy! The good thing is that I never feel bloated anymore, as I’ve paired down treats to being just that – a random treat rather than an everyday occurrence.
The 6 Month Results:
Start: August 30, 2015; 146.2 lbs (the initial mug shots)
Today: February 28, 2016; 132.6 lbs (down 13.6 lbs!)
Month 7 goals:
- More water! This is an important one but one I am not going to beat myself up about when I don’t make my goal. I’m just going to get up and try again the next day.
- Plank challenge (alongside my son as a DMMA karate challenge)!
- Cut out Tim Horton’s tea on a regular basis (I only drink green tea but I’ve switched to decaf green tea at home and going to eliminate the caffeine here from Timmie’s too!). It will also save me $$$!
- Workout! My goal every month is to do the Royally Fit 12 workouts that are sent and a couple pilates and bonus abs/butt sessions on my own. This month I only completed 10 of the 12 workouts and 3 pilates + 3 bonus sessions due to being sick but I plan on making up those 2 missed in month 7. Tomorrow we head to Sky Zone too for a bonus fun workout!
Whether you are in the Royally Fit fitness family or not, tell me, what are your goals this month? What are you going to do for you? Every little change counts towards the big goals and it does so much for our mental outlook! I believe in you!
The journey so far….
