Are you first aid qualified? Would you leave your kids in the care of someone who isn’t? Do you know how to react to a potential heart attack or stroke?
We have partnered with Empire CPR to bring the Mom Cafe community a Red Cross certified first aid course in Oshawa. It is something I believe we should all be well versed in, whether we are a parent, a caregiver or kid-less! Emergencies are unexpected and we never know when we could be in the position to help someone. This knowledge is priceless should you be able to use it to save someone’s life.
We have opted for the full CPR/AED course (over an information session without certification) which will come with a certificate (Level C) and the latest Canadian Red Cross CPR / AED Manual for you to keep. The cost for this session is $65 and will run approximately 4 hours. This course will run Saturday, March 5th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. This course is suitable for ages 13 & up – meaning it is appropriate for teens to attend and get this knowledge before they take on babysitting jobs for the summer or as an added certification for their resume when looking for work.
Some of the topics that will be covered include but are not limited to: the role of a first aider, recovery position, choking, assisting with medications, angina and heart attack and stroke, bleeding, CPR – with the possibility to cover a few topics more in depth that are important to the class demographic – choking in infants as an example – should the class be mostly composed of parents.
Please inquire for registration by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the name(s) of the participant(s). An email will follow to confirm your registration, provide payment options and details, exact location, and anything further you need to know for the event. Please allow up to a week to reply with these details. Spaces are limited as per Red Cross maximum numbers per course. As always, if you have any questions just ask! We will do our best to work with our training partner to get you an answer efficiently. We hope to see you March 5th!
