We know things have been quiet over here on this site for a few weeks, but we are very busy putting together an event that is not to be missed. If you have not yet heard of our event as we’ve been talking about it for a few months on our page, click here to get acquainted. We do this Open House for many reasons – for the community (that’s you!), to help small community businesses and entrepreneurs, and most of all for local charities. We wanted to bring your attention to one of our show charities, Rose of Durham. They support young parents in our community with everything from programs, classes, schooling, and counselling, to supplies and information. With a mission statement “to work with young parents in Durham Region by providing supportive programming so they may build a better future for themselves and their children”, they are helping many young families overcome obstacles and adversities and move towards success.
We are going to be providing a donation in the form of bus tokens from event proceeds. These will help many of the families they support be able to attend the programming and structured classes they offer. They provide support to approximately 400 Durham families each year. They are a non profit organization looking for volunteers too, so if you are interested in helping young families within our community this might be a place you consider spending your time.
Each Open House we hold we chose different community charities to support. We will be supporting other charities with this November 21st event too, which we will be sharing more details on over the next month.
