Everything Spring Show

If you haven’t already heard, this coming Saturday March 28th, we host our first Everything Spring Show. It is our way of giving back to the community and representing our local entrepreneurs and businesses in one venue. Our show is FREE to attend, and is non-profit for Mom Cafe.  All proceeds are donated to local community charities. Each time we host an event we choose mostly new community charities to spread the generosity, and this time we have chosen BookHunters, Walk Pink Team, Girls Inc. of Durham, Down Syndrome Durham Chapter and the Salvation Army food bank. We are also collecting pop tabs to be used for jewelry making by a group, with intent to be sold for charity at a Welcome Wagon event.

So, what is in it for you, our attendee? First off let’s talk kids. We have spring and/or Easter themed pictures for the children by Jill Jago Photography. You will receive one digital picture for free, with the intent to have them emailed out before the following weekend, just in time for the Easter holidays and to display as your new profile picture. We recommend following your photo, free ceramic painting by Ceramics Canada. There is also fun with crafts and activities by Bricks 4 Kidz Oshawa and So Glad 2 Be Me, and a play area by Discovery Toys. Follow it up with some facepainting by Natasha’s FAB Art and you will have some happy kids!

The fun doesn’t stop there though, we have organizations present like Rather Be Caching, of which the whole family can learn about a new fun affordable activity to do together throughout the year, or The Dance Boutique or French 4 Tots which sell products or run programs and are on hand with information to keep the wee ones happy.

We haven’t forgot mom. We think you will most enjoy a free 5 min chair massage by Joint Action Physiotherapy & Wellness Centre after all that bustle with the kids. Fully rested and on to shopping! We have some amazing vendors this time around, some new ones to me, that I very much look forward to checking out. Take a peek at the event here where you can find a listing of the 50+ vendors.

After this much activity you are bound to be looking for a snack, so we’ve got 4 bake sale tables full of goodies, including gluten free goods, along with British Chocolates from Poole Treats and Sweets (you may find me hovering here). Samples from Velata and Hawley Cresent and we suspect you will be good to continue shopping.

Probably one of the most exciting things is the number of door prizes given away. If you follow us on Facebook and remember back to our Christmas event, you will know that some pretty amazing things were won. We will post all the winners & prizes in a post on the website along with our Facebook page this time around too. Just for coming to the show you are entered to win. Be sure to sign in at the front table to enter and so we have your contact details to notify you of a win. We award extra entries to all attendees who bring non-perishable food items, pop tabs, or children’s books in new or like new condition.

Just so you know how good some of the prizes are, we will let you in on a few. $55 European Facial from Linda’s Esthetics, gift basket from It Works, a little girls dream set for the Easter basket consisting of a tutu, purse and matching headband set from Monkey & Bobo, gift certificate for one custom stat board for Baby Boards & More, a gift for the pet lover from JFC Design, an adult scarf from Inspired by Callie, gift certificates for Betsy’s Crochet and Designs, Passion Parties by Suzanne and Pampered Chef, $50 in Tupperware, a sheet of wraps in a decorative case with application tools from Jamberry Nails, or a box of Instantly Ageless by Jeunesse. These are just a few of the 50+ prizes to be won!

We hope to see you out at the event and as always we value your feedback. We are always looking for new charities to help out and will be continuously updating our Charity page. If you have a charity for us to consider please comment there and let us know. See you Saturday!

  • Hi I just wondered if anyone can be a vendor? The cost for a table? I sell origami owl living lockets and thought it might be nice to be a part of this. Also my friend is an amazing face painter and might also be interested. I love how your event gives to charity!

    • Hi Julie!

Our vendor spaces are full for this event, but we still encourage you to come out and see as an attendee and decide if you’d like to be a future vendor. Our next event is our Christmas show and we start taking vendors on a first come first serve basis in the summer. Watch for it by following here and Mom Cafe on Facebook 🙂
